Handoff-Aware Distributed Computing in High Altitude Platform Station (HAPS)–Assisted Vehicular Networks

Distributed computing enables Internet of vehicle (IoV) services by collaboratively utilizing the resources from network edge and vehicles. However, interruption issue caused frequent handoffs, a severe shortage are two problems in providing IoV services. High altitude platform station (HAPS) can be promising addition to existing distributed frameworks because its wide coverage strong computational capabilities. In this regard, paper proposes an adaptive scheme new framework that involves HAPS deal with IoV. Based on diverse demands vehicles, dynamics, time-sensitivity proposed flexibly divides each task into three parts assigns them vehicle, roadside units (RSUs), perform synchronous computing. The also constrains tasks at RSUs such they completed before handoffs avoid risk interruptions. On basis, we formulate delay minimization problem considers task-splitting ratio, transmit power, bandwidth allocation, resource allocation. To solve problem, variable replacement successive convex approximation-based method proposed. simulation results show not only avoids negative effects flexible manner, it takes performance account maintains stability.
